What makes the FOX40 better?
A bell whistle creates its sound by the movement of a small cork bell inside, alternately closing and opening the hole where the air escapes. This process produces a rapid alternation of sound and silence, the characteristic “vibrato” whistle - until the bell sticks to the hole.
The bell-less FOX40 whistle is more like a harmonic instrument, as it produces 3 slightly different frequencies at the same time. The different frequencies are superimposed on each other, so they alternate and cancel each other out. The result is a loud, piercing vibrato whistle that has no moving parts inside to get stuck. The whistle is injection molded plastic.
